Project Description
Jaxl started in summer of 2010 with a vision of providing a real-time PUSH transport for applications over cloud which works across all platforms. JAXL platform is an XMPP abstraction, which provides Real-time App Development Platform As A Service (PAAS). Frontend API's were supported in javascript language while backend API's can be written in any programming language.
My Contribution
Being part of the Jaxl Team, I have focused on the following things at JAXL:
- Business Site Design and Development
- JAXL Introductory video
- Developer Dashboard
- User Interface for Jaxl Multi-User Chat
- JAXL Games Interface
Process Followed
Jaxl was a start-up of the alumni of IIT Guwahati. Being part of the team of Jaxl, I had to focus on the Design Operations, which was quite an up-hill task. This was also my first big responsibility. Every design went through the process of ideation by the team members, followed by wireframing and User Interface design. As I was working remotely, we used an SVN setup to sync all our data to the server.
Tools and Technologies
- HTML/CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Tortoise SVN
What I have learnt
At various phases, we had huge amount of pressure as we had to meet the quick deadlines. JAXL helped me improve my skills of multi-tasking and time management very well. I can now say that I am extremely reliable in terms of working in pressurised situations.
